Warning about a new email scam
It's a fake Social Security notice that offers a chance to learn some skills that generally will help keep you safer online.
If you get an email like the one in the image above, it's a scam. The links don't go to Social Security and the agency wouldn't use shortened links. Don't click them.
In general, here's what to do:
1. Hover your cursor over the highlighted wording. The actual link should pop up.
2. Right-click the link and choose Copy Hyperlink.
3. Go to a link expansion service like https://checkshorturl.com.
4. Paste the link in and follow the directions to submit it.
5. If it isn't clearly the sender it pretends to be, delete the email.
The safest approach is always to go to the purported sender's website and check for the message, your account, etc.
Stay safe and have a good week.
