One request, two outlets, on PPI
I'm doing one piece for GlobeSt.com and one for my Forbes.com space.
Related, looking for comments for two pieces I’m writing tonight. Both are about the PPI year-over-year jump of 6.5%.
For Forbes, I'm interested in the consumer and small business implications, like what it's going to mean for inflation going forward (assuming, perhaps wrongly, that PPI will first show the ongoing pressures of tariffs). Is this an issue of higher energy prices? What are the big lessons? What are the uncertainties? Over what time can this be reasonably discussed?
For GlobeSt.com, even though PPI year-over-year was 6.5%, final delivery construction was up only 3.5%. I’m interested in two areas. First, what might this and the inflation jump (largely driven by energy/oil and shelter) mean for commercial real estate? Second, why was final delivery construction up so much less than overall PPI?
Please email me at query@eriksherman.com and don’t reply directly to this email because the former gets to me a lot faster.
